Whether you've attended one of my Level 0 Workshops already and would like to refresh and build on the skills you have already learnt, or maybe you've learnt to crochet in the past and need to brush up and extend your crochet knowledge. This is the perfect mini crochet course - whatever direction you'd like to take your hobby.
Taking place over 3 sessions at the fabulous Westbury Arts Centre (Milton Keynes), the course dates are:
Session 1: Tuesday 4th March 2025: 7:00 - 9:45 pm
Session 2: Tuesday 11th March 2025: 7:00 - 9:45 pm
Session 3: Tuesday 18th March 2025: 7:00 - 9:45 pm
The course includes:
Session 1:
You will refresh and build on the basic crochet skills, including:
- how to hold the yarn and hook;
- chain, double crochet, treble crochet, turn, edge;
- slip stitch, half treble crochet and double treble crochet;
- how to follow a simple crochet pattern.
You will have a small project to complete at home, before the next session - yes, you have homework!
Session 2:
In the second workshop you will tackle a new project - it's a cute basket bag! This project will teach you:
- how to use a new yarn type and corresponding hook size
- how to make a magic loop
- how to crochet continuously in the round
- how to use a stitch marker (and stitch marker options)
- new stitches, including crocheting in the back loop
- how to finish your work neatly
- how to make rope handles with recycled T-shirt yarn.
You will be able to complete this project at home, but there will also be an opportunity to go over anything you are uncertain of during the next session.
Session 3:
In the third and final workshop you will learn to make an amigurumi! This project will teach you:
- amigurumi stitch techniques (no holes showing!)
- recap on making a magic loop and crocheting continuously in the round
- how to follow an amigurumi pattern
- when and how to stuff your amigurumi
- how to keep your tension consistent
- how to add features
- how to finish your project neatly and securely
If time runs out, you will be able to complete this project at home - as you will now have had plenty of practice following patterns!
ALL materials will be supplied, including recycled cotton yarn,*new crochet hooks required, recycled cotton project bag(s) and corresponding crochet patterns.
*If you have a 5mm crochet hook (maybe from one of my previous workshops, please bring it along. I will bring spares to borrow or buy (for a nominal charge) on the day, if required.
The maximum workshop size will be 7, to ensure sufficient individual guidance during the session.
Please do bring a snack along with you - crochet is hungry work!
