My solution: crochet soap dishes using remnants of Hoooked Zpagetti yarn - itself the waste from the textile industry!
The soap dishes can be popped in the wash and air dried, so make several and swap them over when you change your towels - any soap residue left on them will also help to wash your laundry!

The star and shellfish soap dishes are worked in the round using the magic ring method. They feature raised stitches worked around the posts of previous rows/rounds to create ridges, enabling air to circulate underneath your soap and keeping it drier.
